New Zealand’s largest single transport project to date. Andrew led the teams securing all designations and consents, including regional consents and numerous alterations to the designations, to enable CRL.
Auckland Transport and Waka Kotahi - New Zealand Transport Agency on Te Tupu Ngātahi (The Supporting Growth Alliance)
As part of the Alliance legal team, Andrew is working on route protection of the transportation network required to service the next 30 years of Auckland’s urban growth. This is the largest professional services alliance to be established in Australasia and involves a collaborative approach working with multiple multidisciplinary teams.
Auckland Transport
On a number of major designations, appeals and plan changes including: settling the transport network for the proposed new urban areas at Redhills and Whenuapai and securing designations for Penlink and Mill Road.
Meridian Energy
Obtaining regulatory approvals for Meridian’s wind energy generation projects and strategic planning and policy advice throughout New Zealand.
Transpower
Strategic project, planning and policy advice throughout New Zealand, including the Christchurch Replacement District Plan which involved a fast-tracked hearing process and the Special Housing Areas in the Auckland region.
A highly contentious application for resource consent to realign the Hairini – Mt Maunganui A (HAI-MTM A) 110kV transmission line, which currently traverses the Maungatapu Peninsula, Rangataua Bay Estuary and Matapihi and forms part of an ONFL. Following successful outcomes at first instance and in the Environment Court, Transpower unsuccessfully sought leave from the Court of Appeal to appeal a High Court decision.
Kiwirail
Applications under the Covid-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020 for new rail stations at Drury Central and Parata, and approvals for a third station at Drury West.
Port Marlborough and KiwiRail
Working on applications under the Covid-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020 for the nationally-significant project to fully redevelop Port Picton (Waitohi) to accommodate New Zealand’s key future inter-island transport link.
CentrePort
A significant port redevelopment in Wellington, commercial redevelopment of redundant port assets, strategic planning matters and assisting with the resolution of issues arising from the Kaikoura earthquake.
